Harm reduction is what our study is all about. And this is a request to help
find Study members with HIV, Hep C, or another viral infections. “Paradigm
shift” is forgetting that Hep C and HIV are viruses, biological entities which if
they had knowledge it would be humor at the efforts of the drug companies to
kill that which is not “alive.”
Viruses whether HIV or Hep C do not seek out cells with adequate intracellular
oxygen. We are studying Organic Sulfur which enables oxygen to be transported
across the cell membrane and in doing so allowing that same membrane to
become pliable and resilient so that the viral entities can not tear into these cells.
Punching your way out of a paper bag is a similar analogy.
We have been hard pressed to enlist HIV or Hep C members but those who
have joined the study have experienced reduced viral loads. Our one success
case study died from an overdose of drugs, his liver had completely regenerated
in 15 months.
What we are suggesting is simple cellular biology, no promises or hype from
the pharmaceutical industry which has no real desire to “cure” Hep C or HIV but
only to profit from the treatment. We believe, fools that we must be, that a virus
is a virus no matter what name we give them and it must behave the way that all
viruses have since we learned of their existence.
Do a little search on viruses and oxygen, do a little search on how viruses replicate.
They do so by tearing into a leathery, stiff cell membrane which is due to anaerobic
cellular metabolism not unlike cancer and they use the DNA in that cell to replicate
more viruses to continue what should have been just a standard garbage pickup of
weak and diseased cells.
The crystals of Organic Sulfur are taken by the tablespoon for Hep C twice a day
12 to 15 grams twice a day, more has not demonstrated any adverse effects. For
HIV we believe 50 grams or 4 1/2 tablespoons of sulfur are necessary being that

We believe that most all US citizens are sulfur deficient thanks to the use of
chemical fertilizers and the over processing of our foods. HIV has been around
since 1860 but not until we had used chemical fertilizers did it first appear in the
West Nile Region of Africa along with Ebola and West Nile Virus.
The rise in Hep C especially among Vets did so after the use of these same
chemical fertilizers was mandated in 1954.

No one has ever demonstrated the ability to kill a virus not even with an atomic bomb
in 1960 so when the drug companies think that they can do so with antiviral drugs possibly
they should remember that viruses are not alive, have no DNA. If forcing these “garbage
men” into dormancy is the best we can do, then I say lets do it, and the availability of
intracellular oxygen may be the answer.
Our Study is funded by the Sulfur we supply so if someone is interested it is on their
nickel, when supplied for “free” it is not taken or considered of value, we have been
doing this study since 1999 when my son was diagnosed with cancer and given a
death sentence for 2003, he is very much alive in 2007 and we believe that sulfur is
the reason.
No harm! No reason to stop any other therapy. Sulfur is the forth most abundant
of the trace minerals and we do not get any in our foods. As our report states all
disease rates in the US are now 4000% higher than they were in 1950 and that in-
cludes HIV and Hep C. Could it be the cell membrane? Could it be the lack of
intracellular oxygen? There is no harm to find out and if we are correct those Vets
with viral counts in the 30 millions could be down to under 5 million is less than
18 months.
You can continue to by hyped by the drug companies or look at an alternative
which just may be a solution, not a cure because no one has ever killed a virus
but if ones liver is allowed to regenerate and all of the viral attacks of HIV could
to halted then life could continue without the fear. And fear is the ally of the
drug companies we ally ourselves with simple cellular biology and healthy cellular
regeneration.

A Possible Contributing Factor in Obesity, Heart Disease, Alzheimer’s and Chronic Fatigue
Obesity is quickly becoming the number one health issue confronting America today, and has also risen to epidemic proportions worldwide. Its spread is associated with the adoption of a Western-style diet. However, I believe that the widespread consumption of food imports produced by U.S. companies plays a crucial role in the rise in obesity worldwide. Specifically, these “fast foods” typically include heavily processed derivatives of corn, soybeans and grains, grown on highly efficient mega-farms. Furthermore, I will argue in this essay that one of the core underlying causes of obesity may be sulfur deficiency. Sulfur is the eighth most common element by mass in the human body, behind oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, phosphorus and potassium. The two sulfur-containing amino acids, methionine and cysteine, play essential physiological roles throughout the body. However, sulfur has been consistently overlooked by those addressing the issues of nutritional deficiencies. In fact, the National Academy of Sciences has not even assigned a minimum daily requirement (MDR) for sulfur. One consequence of sulfur’s limbo nutritional status is that it is omitted from the long list of supplements that are commonly artificially added to popular foods like cereal.

 UNAPPRECIATED DEFICIENCIES
Sulfur is found in a large number of foods, and, as a consequence, it is assumed that almost any diet would meet the minimum daily requirements. Excellent sources are eggs, onions, garlic, and leafy dark green vegetables like kale and broccoli. Meats, nuts, and seafood also contain sulfur. Methionine, an essential amino acid, is found mainly in egg whites and fish. A diet high in grains like bread and cereal is likely to be deficient in sulfur. Increasingly, whole foods such as corn and soybeans are disassembled into component parts with chemical names, and then reassembled into heavily processed foods. Sulfur is lost along the way, and so is the awareness that this loss matters.
Experts have recently become aware that sulfur depletion in the soil creates a serious deficiency for plants,17 brought about in part by improved efficiency in the U.S. agricultural industry, which has steadily consolidated into highly technologized mega-farms.
It is estimated that humans obtain about ten percent of their sulfur supply from drinking water. Remarkably, people who drink soft water have an increased risk of heart disease compared to people who drink hard water.2 Many possible reasons have been suggested for why this might be true, and just about every trace metal has been considered as a possibility.3 However, I believe that the real reason may simply be that hard water is more likely to contain sulfur.
SULFUR AND OBESITY RATES
The ultimate source of sulfur is volcanic rock, mainly basalt, spewed up from the earth’s core during volcanic eruptions. It is generally believed that humans first evolved in the African rift zone, a region that would have enjoyed an abundance of sulfur due to the heavy volcanic activity there.
The three principal suppliers of sulfur to the Western nations are Greece, Italy and Japan. These three countries also enjoy low rates of heart disease and obesity and increased longevity. In the United States, Oregon and Hawaii, two states with significant volcanic activity, have among the lowest obesity rates in the country. By contrast, the highest obesity rates are found in the midwest and in southern farm country: the epicenter of the modern agricultural practices (mega-farms) that lead to sulfur depletion in the soil. Among all fifty states, Oregon has the lowest childhood obesity rates.
Hawaii’s youth are faring less well than their parents, however: while Hawaii ranks as the fifth from the bottom in obesity rates, its children aged ten through seventeen weigh in at number thirteen. As Hawaiians have recently become increasingly dependent on food imports from the mainland, they have suffered accordingly with increased obesity problems.
In her recently published book, The Jungle Effect,25 Dr. Daphne Miller devotes a full chapter to Iceland in which she struggles to answer the question of why Icelanders enjoy such remarkably low rates of depression, despite living at a northern latitude, where one would expect a high incidence of Seasonal Affective Disorder. She points out, furthermore, their excellent health record in other key areas: “When compared to North Americans, they have almost half the death rate from heart disease and diabetes, significantly less obesity, and a greater life expectancy. In fact, the average life span for Icelanders is amongst the longest in the world.” While she proposes that their high fish consumption, with associated high intake of omega-3 fats, may plausibly be the main beneficial factor, she puzzles over the fact that former Icelanders who move to Canada and also eat lots of fish do not also enjoy the same decreased rate of depression and heart disease.
In my view, the key to Icelanders’ good health lies in the string of volcanoes that make up the backbone of the island, which sits atop the mid-Atlantic ridge crest. Dr. Miller pointed out that the mass exodus to Canada was due to extensive volcanic eruptions in the late 1800s, which blanketed the highly cultivated southeast region of the country. This means, of course, that the soils today are highly enriched in sulfur. The cabbage, beets and potatoes that are staples of the Icelandic diet are likely providing far more sulfur to Icelanders than their counterparts in the American diet provide.

The Prime Cause of Cancer

In order to understand the dramatic effect of increased oxygenation on cancer (and all anaerobic diseases) it is important to explain the conditions (and the only conditions) which allow cancer cells to not only survive but multiply and flourish. In order to do this an explanation of the metabolism of healthy and unhealthy cells must be explained- or in this case non-cancerous and cancerous cells.

A normal healthy cell burns oxygen and glucose (blood sugar) for energy and releases carbon dioxide and. This healthy cell is functioning aerobically- in the presence of sufficient oxygen. No anaerobic (cancer, Epstein Barr, herpes, mono, genital warts, etc.) can flourish, replicate or even survive in this oxygen rich environment.

An unhealthy or diseased cell is lacking sufficient oxygen but will still produce energy by burning mainly. This is very inefficient and a severe drain on the body. This energy burning process (sugar fermentation) releases mainly lactic acid and carbon monoxide instead of carbon dioxide. This cell is functioning anaerobically- with no oxygen present. Cancer, viral diseases, etc. flourish in this environment-little or no oxygen (and low PH).
Anaerobic cells must work harder than aerobic cells to produce energy from the glucose they metabolize.

Therefore, anaerobic cells burn much more glucose to produce the same amount of energy as aerobic. Cancer cells exhibit this anaerobic mode of metabolism- lack of oxygen, high glucose consumption, carbon monoxide and high lactic acid production. Cancer cells thrive in this high sugar-low oxygen environment but cannot exist in the opposite condition of high oxygen-low sugar mode of healthy cells.

Dr. Otto Warburg, whose name has been bandied about so often that his significance has been unjustifiably minimized, was a biochemist in cancer research. He won the Nobel Prize in Medicine for proving that a cancer cell cannot exist in an oxidizing, healthy cell. Dr. Waburgh was the director of the Max Planck Institute for Cell Physiology in Germany. In “The Prime Cause and Prevention of Cancer” 1967,

Dr. Warburg proposed that normalizing the metabolism of cancer cells was the key to effective treatment cancer and the means to accomplish this was to increase the oxygen content of the cells. Dr.Warburg stated that as the first priority of treatment, “– all growing body cells be saturated with oxygen” and the second priority was to avoid further exposure to toxins.
Dr. Warburg’s second priority to avoid further exposure to toxins is more difficult. We are exposed to toxins every day in the food we eat, water we drink and air we breathe. Every foreign invader that enters the body must be oxidized to pass through the body thus using valuable oxygen- oxygen needed for proper functioning. Herpes Cure Through Oxygenation

Herpes is a virus and viruses are anaerobic. They exist, survive and proliferate with little or no oxygen present. The herpes virus lacks the genetic material for reproduction and must inhabit a cell and rob the cell of its missing genetic material to multiply. They multiply by attaching themselves to DNA or RNA of normal cells forcing the cell to produce more of the virus. They remain latent until our defenses are down when they travel from cell to cell replicating wildly causing a herpes outbreak.

The herpes virus cannot exist in an elevated oxygen environment. Dr. Otto Warburg won the Nobel Prize for proving that viruses cannot proliferate, cannot exist in the presence of sufficient oxygen. This is a now an accepted fact. There has been many, many studies showing the destruction of viruses by the introduction of increased oxygenation whether it is in the form of ozone, hydrogen peroxide, hyperbaric oxygen, etc.

Cuba, Russia, West Germany and Italy have all successfully treated viral infections with increased oxygenation. At the Center of Medical and Surgical Research in Havana fifteen adults patients suffering from herpes zoster were treated with injections of ozone/oxygen for a period of fifteen days. All patients were completely symptom free after the treatment AND follow-up examinations a year later showed not one relapse.

Dr. R. Mattassi of the Division of Vascular Surgery at the Santa Corona Hospital in Milan, Italy treated 27 herpes patients with intravenous injections of oxygen and ozone. All patients healed completely after a minimum of one and a maximum of five injections. Five years later 24 of the 27 were still outbreak free. Re-infection was suspected in the other three.

Dr Parris Kidd has stated:
“Oxygen plays a pivotal role in the proper functioning of the immune system; i.e. resistance to disease, bacterial, and viruses.”

Dr. Stephen Levine has also stated:
“We can look at oxygen deficiency as the single greatest cause of all disease.”

EVERY CHRONIC PAIN IS SOME CELLS’ CRY FOR OXYGEN
Majid Ali, M.D.Oxygen is the organizing influence of human biology and governs the aging process. In 2000, I began Oxygen and Aging1 with those words. Oxygen is a master work of nature — an enduring tribute to Nature’s preoccupation with complementarity and contrariety. It is an elixir of life and a hemlock for death — the ultimate molecular Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Sometimes by its presence and sometimes by its absence, oxygen initiates signaling for cellular life as well as demise. In that context, it is important to recognize that oxygen drives chronic pain pathways primarily by its absence.A large number of pain neurotransmitters are involved in clinical pain syndromes, including: substance P; enkephalins; neurokinin 1, 2, and 3; serotonin; adenosine triphosphate (ATP); nitric oxide; calcitonin; vasoactive intestinal peptides; epinephrine, norepinephrine, and related sympathomimetic agents; glutamic acid, aspartic acid, and related excitatory transmitters; and GABA, glycine, and related inhibitory transmitters.2-4 Some excitatory transmitters concerned with chronic pain include glutamic acid and aspartic acid, which are involved with dorsal horn sensitization through activation of NMDA receptors, while inhibitory transmitters participate in mechanisms that prevent or diminish pain. It seems safe to predict that future work will establish that, directly and indirectly, all those molecular species are triggered or influenced by oxygen deficit.

Oxygen and Pain Neurotransmitters

Neurotransmitters transmit information across synapses — regions separating neurons from adjoining neurons, as well as neurons from the muscle cells. These substances are stored in the bulbous ends of axons, and are released by electrical impulses traveling along the nerves to those ends. Upon their release, neurotransmitter either facilitate or inhibit continued electrical impulses along the nerve fibers on the other side of the synapse. Over 300 molecular species have been recognized to be involved in neurotransmission.5 Some of the best known of those over 300 neurotransmitters have been listed in a preceding section. It is regrettable that all neurologists and others in the headache industry I know limit their work only to serotonin and a few related neurotransmitters.

Next to oxygen and serotonin, substance P (SP) is the best examined of all the pain neurotransmitters, and its relationship with oxygen deficit has been most clearly delineated.6-11It is an 11-residue peptide belonging to the tachykinin sub-family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCR). Those receptors form a class of integral membrane proteins. Serotonin in the mammalian brain and receptors of the olfactory epithelium that binds odorants are two other members of this family are receptors.

Oxygen deficit triggers the release of substance P. There are several lines of direct and indirect evidence for it.12,13 Direct evidence for that comes from experiments in which decreasing concentrations of oxygen were associated with the release of increasing amounts of SP.12 Specifically, the carotid bodies contain SP — in concentrations ranging from 1.4 to 1.6 ng/mg protein — that is released in response to tissue hypoxia. The amount of SP released from the carotid bodies increases in proportion to the severity of hypoxia. It is noteworthy that the release of SP by hypoxia is a calcium-dependent process, and is primarily mediated by N- and L-type Ca2+ channels.13

Other lines of evidence for the fundamental role of oxygen deficit in the causation of pain include the following: (1) skin lactate levels are increased in complex regional pain14; (2) SP increases protein extravasation in regional chronic pain states15; (3) intradermal injection of epinephrine causes local pain (due to vasoconstriction and consequent oxygen deficit)16; (4) a tissue hypoxia occurs in complex regional pain syndrome17; (5) ascorbic acid reduces pain in reflex sympathetic dystrophy18; and (6) certain other free radial scavengers also reduce pain in complex regional pain states19 — the mechanism of action of antioxidants being restoration of local oxygen homeostasis.

Substance P exerts varied effects on different tissues.20-24 It is excitatory to the carotid body. Release of larger amounts of SP in the lungs is associated with pulmonary hypertension, an effect that is attenuated by antioxidants. In the nasal mucosa, hyperbaric oxygen decreases immunoreactivity to substance P.25 Not unexpectedly in light of the oxygen/SP dynamics, oxyradicals under certain conditions also trigger the release of substance P. By contrast, antioxidants, such as ascorbic acid, inhibit the release of SP.18 However, the relationships between antioxidants and SP are complex. For instance, ca

icin increases regional perfusion — and oxygen delivery, inhibiting the release of SP — but is also known to increase SP release in the lung. Oxidants also have complex relationships with SP. For example, nitric oxide serving as an oxidant modulates histamine release from tissue mast cell and circulating basophils, and so contributes to pain caused by histamine.26-27 On the other hand, nitric oxide, through its vasodilator role, improves oxygen transport, decreases the release of SP, and mitigates some pain syndromes. (See Nature’s Preoccupation With Complementarity and Contrariety, the first volume of The Principles and Practice of Medicine,28 for an in-depth treatment of the subject).Substance P also has complex relationships with certain other physiologic compounds, including enzymes and hormones.29,30 For instance, increased amounts of erythrocyte 2,3-diphosphoglycerate (2,3 DPG) caused by chronic hypoxia is associated with increased release of SP. Since chronic hypoxia increases the concentration of 2,3-DPG, this provides yet another mechanims by which oxygen deficit causes pain. Fascinating! How oxygen, by its absence, both triggers a mechanism for correcting that problem (by increasing 2,3-DGP production) and sends out messages to other cellular systems for participation in that effort (by inducing the production of SP). An example of the involvement of enzyme system with SP is that acute depressor actions of angiotensin II in the nucleus of the solitary tract are mediated by SP. An insight into the possible interactions between SP and hormones is provided by the complementary roles of SP and calcitonin gene-related peptide in the causation of phantom and ischemic pains.An interesting aspect of the oxygen/substance P dynamics is revealed by the case of the East African naked mole-rats (Heterocephalus glaber). This rat species lacks substance P and does not appear to suffer pain when tormented.31 The rats feel no immediate pain when cut, scraped or subjected to heat stimuli. They only feel some aches. But when the rats get a shot of SP, pain signaling resumes working as in other mammals. One can only wonder about what other defense mechanisms exist in this rat species that compensate for substance P.

On the Nature of Pain
Pain is a sensory perception intricately linked to the emotional state of the person. Pain is not a disease, nor a discrete bodily state. That explains why pain in different cultures means different things to different people. This is a crucially important aspect of pain when considering the biochemistry of pain neurotransmitters presented above. I had certain ideas of pain during three decades of my work as a surgeon and a pathologist. In those years, I suffered migraine attacks. Since vomiting accompanying migraine did not allow me to keep any painkillers down, I gave myself Demerol injection for relief. My work in integrative medicine changed all that. Then I taught myself control of migraine by assuring optimal hydration, preventing rapid hypoglycemic/hyperglycemic roller coasters and consequent rapid insulin shifts, addressing issues of mold and food allergy, and controlling vasospasm with self-regulatory methods — all measures that restore oxygen homeostasis, locally or systemically. I have not had to take Demerol during the last eight years. I have a prolapsed lumbar disc which sometimes caused disabling backache. During those years, I also taught myself control of that pain with Limbic Breathing32 — an energetic method of breathing with extended periods of exhalation (see Healing Miracles and the Bite of the Gray Dog33 for details of other effective self-regulatory methods). For years, I have controlled my back pain with limbic breathing, without any painkillers, manipulations, laser or other therapies.

I might point out here that direct oxygen therapies — oxygen by mask and hyperbaric oxygen — have been successfully used in controlling headaches and migraine attacks.34-37 Specifically, in one double-blind trial breathing 100% oxygen for 15 minutes or less during headache episodes controlled or significantly reduced the pain of acute cluster attacks in all subjects.34 Not surprisingly, one fourth of the study participants experienced cluster attacks soon after the treatment was stopped35 — since various elements putting in jeopardy oxygen homeostasis were not addressed. Administration of higher concentrations of oxygen during the postoperative period relieves or reduces the intensity of postoperative pain. It appears to both reduce the release of substance P and influence pain inhibitory pathways in the peripheral nerves. Correlation between urinary substance P and bladder pain has been documented.

Seeing Pain, Thinking Oxygen

In my clinical work when I see pain, I think oxygen. I think about how dehydration in one person worsens functional oxygen deficits, and how incremental oxidative stress threatens oxygen homeostasis — locally and/or systemically — in another. I think about how hyperglycemic- hypoglycemic shifts trigger rapid insulin responses increases the intensity of pain in yet others. I think about how undetected and unmanaged allergic triggers acting in the bowel and elsewhere cumulatively cause oxidosis, acidosis, dehydration, add to oxidosis, acidosis — and then all collectively threaten functionality of oxygen, increasing the degree of pain regardless what the initial pain triggers might be. Then I wonder how often do neurologists and anesthesiologists at pain centers think about the effects of total body burden of toxic metals and xenobiotics on pain neurochemistry — by feeding the frenzy of the three furies of pain — oxidosis, acidosis, and dysoxygenosis.

Following are some commonly observed clinical manifestations of biochemical interactions among the pain sensors and modifiers listed above:

1. Coronary chest pain is relieved or mitigated by the administration of oxygen, as are attacks of headache and migraine34-37;
2. Direct oxystatic measures — treatments that restore oxygen homeostasis, including ozone, hydrogen peroxide, singlet oxygen, and related treatments — prevent, diminish or relieve diffuse tissue pain in fibromyalgia38,39;
3. Indirect oxystatic measures — treatments such as prolotherapy with injection of 50% glucose or other suitable agents that stimulate fibroproliferative responses — relieve trigger point pain by evoking local oxystatic inflammatory tissue response40;
5. Chronic back pain in many cases can be relieved by effective self-regulatory methods, especially with specific breathing methods (see limbic breathing in The Cortical Monkey and Healing32;
6. Pain syndromes accompanying reflex sympathetic dystrophy can be relieved with direct oxystatic therapies combined with indirect oxystatic measures, including restoration of bowel ecology and hepatic detoxification (personal unpublished observations); and
7. Cooling of forehead diminishes sympathetic tone, increases regional blood supply (correcting oxygen deficit), and relieves certain types of pain associated with dysautonomia.41

On deeper reflection, the pain-relieving roles of oxygen and oxyradicals can be recognized in most, if not all, empirically proven pain control therapies. Indeed, in my own clinical work I find that every chronic pain can be partially or completely controlled by effective direct and indirect oxystatic therapies. That, in essence, is the “oxygen view of pain” presented in this article.

Author’s Priorities for Headache and Migraine: A Clinical Application of the Oxygen View of Pain

Headache and migraine patients must take the time to understand the true nature of their suffering, and not waste time on worrying what type of headache and migraine they may or may not have. They must understand that drug therapies cannot be accepted as the full treatment of their suffering. They must know that their suffering can be prevented by non-drug therapies, except in rare instances of pain associated with depression, anxiety, or drug dependence. It is mandatory to have tests done for antibodies for molds and this issue addressed. Mold sensitivity was present in nearly all of my patients with headache attacks. The same holds for uncovering and effectively managing food sensitivities. Even ordinary fluctuations in blood sugar levels can trigger headache attacks. So headache and migraine patients must not miss breakfast. Similarly, dehydration increases vulnerability to headache, and optimal hydration must be assured for optimal control of headache. In many instances, myofascial trigger points in the neck, shoulders, and scalp trigger headache attacks. Such trigger points require resolution by appropriate therapies. The author’s choice is prolotherapy with 50% glucose.40 Headache and migraine patients must become sensitive to problems caused by excess acidity.

Cellular oxidosis, acidosis, and dysoxygenosis resulting from nutrient deficits can trigger, perpetuate, or intensify headache. So, I consider nutritional therapies — magnesium, calcium, and potassium stand out in this context — as well as selected phytotherapies as important components of the program. And most importantly, headache and migraine attacks are commonly triggered by stress and perpetuated by chronic anger. Thus, such patients must learn effective self-regulatory methods for prevention and treatment of headache. (See Healing Miracles and the Bite of the Gray Dog.23) Most importantly, persons with headache and migraine must learn to think oxygen when they experience pain. They need to recognize that self- regulatory, nutritional, and environmental measures enlighten and empower them, while drug therapies for headache disempower the sufferers and keep them in the dark.

In closing, the crucial clinical importance of the “oxygen view of pain” presented above is this: It mandates that all relevant oxygen issues be diligently addressed in the clinical management of every patient with a chronic pain syndrome. How often do clinicians recognize the essential commonality of biochemical lesions — oxidosis, acidosis, and dysoxygenosis — that cause migraine and heart attack? How often do they see that commonality between the pain episodes of severe dysmenorrhea and myofascial trigger points? And that between arthritis and sympathetic reflex dystrophy? And that between pain of prolapsed vertebral discs and fibromyalgia? And that between pain of TMJ and renal colic? The oxygen view of pain provides a clear link. What might be required for managing ischemic coronary syndromes with the oxygen view of pain? The same approach as for controlling migraine attacks given above. Why? Because the oxygen issues that cause oxidative coagulopathy and so set the stage for coronary artery blockages are exactly the same as those that trigger migraine attacks. Cholesterol, I might add here, is an antioxidant and protects the coronary arteries until it gets oxidized, becomes rancid, contributes to oxidative coagulopathy, and sets the stage for atherosclerosis.

Chronic cellular hypoxia as the prime cause of cancer: what is the de-oxygenating role of adulterated and improper ratios of polyunsaturated fatty acids when incorporated into cell membranes?

Abstract

With the exception of melanoma and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, the incidence of cancer has peaked in the last several years, but rates and mortality are still high. Moreover, despite 50 years of intensive cancer research increasingly focused on genetic causes, no single unifying cause for cancer has been established. Although it is well-known that tumors are hypoxic, and that there is a correlation between the level of hypoxia and prognosis, with the exception of Warburg’s studies, little work has been done to investigate the relationship between hypoxia and cancer. Over 70 years ago, Warburg showed that cells could always be made cancerous by subjecting them to periods of hypoxia. Moreover, he demonstrated that once cells had converted to a cancerous state, reversion could not occur. Modern biochemistry acknowledges that there is a switch from oxidative phosphorylation to glycolysis in tumors that might be concurrent with hypoxia, but does not address the cancer causation. It is our hypothesis that long-term hypoxia of cells in the body, measured in years, is the primary trigger for cancer. We believe that the hypoxia, which has to meet Warburg’s findings of a critical 35% reduction in intracellular oxygen levels to initiate cancer, is linked to the incorporation of adulterated, non-oxygenating, or inappropriate polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) into the phospholipids of cell and mitochondrial membranes. Such incorporation causes changes in membrane properties that impair oxygen transmission into the cell. Trans fats, partially oxidized PUFA entities, and inappropriate omega-6:omega-3 ratios are all potential sources of unsaturated fatty acids that can disrupt the normal membrane structure. In this paper, we explore this hypothesis by examining the evidence, and additionally propose an appropriate PUFA dosage for humans by analyzing requirements and taking into account current PUFA consumption patterns.

Sulfur is an essential mineral which the body uses to make many of its amino acids and proteins, according to a study done at the Institute of Human Nutrition, School of Medicine, University of Southhampton in the UK, in 2006.[1] The researchers of the study, titled The Effects of Sulfur Amino Acid Intake on Immune Function in Humans, revealed sulfur’s important role in keeping our immune system healthy and efficient. The study shows that sulfur in the form of methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) may provide natural and effective support in alleviating inflammation throughout the body.
The best study on sulfur is perhaps the ongoing Live Blood Cellular Matrix Study (12 years at the time of writing this), which is not a scientific study by any means, but it consists of collecting anecdotal evidence from those who have benefited from using sulfur for a large number of different conditions.[2] In my opinion, when properly controlled as it is being done in this study, valuable real-life information can be gained that otherwise may remain concealed in “properly” conducted scientifically studies.
In essence, sulfur makes it possible for proteins and other nutrients and gases to pass across the membranes into the cells. Without it, cell membranes become leathery and less permeable, thereby forcing cells to become anaerobic and accumulate acid metabolic wastes. This can cause them to either turn cancerous, or to degenerate and die. Since sulfur cannot be stored in the body, not being amply supplied with it each day through food and drinking water causes us to die each day a little more through cell degeneration (called disease and aging).
Sulfur is naturally found in hard water. The populations in some Mediterranean countries where the water is partially hard tend to have a low incidence in heart disease and dementia. Iceland, which is particularly blessed with sulfur-rich water (Sulphur Springs), is ranked as the healthiest country in the world, according to a Forbes report (followed by Finland and Sweden).
Water softening, as well as fluoridation and chlorination of water strip the water of all its sulfur. This is one of the reasons sulfur deficiency is more pronounced in larger cities or communities supplied with treated, municipal water. Before the era of chemical fertilizers, our food was grown through the applications of sulfur-rich manures to the soil. The extensive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, on the other hand, has stripped our foods of almost all sulfur. Whatever sulfur is left in these foods, is removed through food processing, heating, and preservation methods. After chemical fertilizers were mandated in the US in 1954 the incidence of cancer and other major degenerative illnesses increased by an astounding 4000 percent.
Finland was one of the first countries in the world to recognize the fundamental dangers of modern farming methods and food production. In 1985, alarmed by the same obscene increase in degenerative disease at similar levels to those found in the US, Finland altogether banned the use of chemical fertilizers. This resulted in their disease rates to drop to one tenth of their 1985 rates. Today, Finland does not only boast one of the healthiest populations in the world, they are also the leading supplier of organically grown foods in Europe.  
In the body, sulfur is responsible for allowing cells to use oxygen effectively and for undergoing repair, if damaged. In fact, without enough sulfur in the body, healing cannot take place. Unless you eat mostly organically grown foods and drink natural, untreated water, you may not be able to keep the body at its optimal level of health and vitality.
Aging has very little to do with one’s age. Aging is rather a nutrient-deficiency syndrome that increasingly prevents the nourishment of the body’s organs and systems and forces the cells to hold on to their own waste products. Sulfur is that one single mineral that regulates cellular nourishment and waste removal. To do this successfully, the body requires about 750mg of sulfur each day. The sulfur can draw toxins out of the cells, even fat cells and brain cells. It increases circulation, enzyme activity, strengthens the immune system, reduces recovery time after injury, reduces muscle pain and soreness, promotes healthy growth of hair and nails, helps with cancer, osteoporosis, depression, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s  disease, and diabetes.  I cannot think of any inflammatory illness where sulfur-deficiency does not also play a key role. Almost all diseases are due to inflammation.
Toxins in our environment, food additives, pesticides and herbicides sprayed on foods and into the air, Chemtrail toxins (such as aluminum oxides and barium), vaccines, radiation toxins created by cell phones and wireless devices, etc., all deplete sulfur in the body. Remember, it takes a lot of sulfur to remove just the internally generated waste products each day. There is not much sulfur left to deal with the unnaturally supplied toxins, which  can then easily overtax the liver, kidneys, heart and brain.
Cleaning out the liver and gallbladder, colon, and kidneys, combined with eating mostly organically grown foods and natural untreated water, are among the basic steps to restore the body health and slow the aging process.
Vegetarian foods that are particularly rich in sulfur include broccoli, cauliflower, kale, Brussels sprouts, watercress, and radish. If you suffer from an illness, though, and require extra sulfur to support the healing and repair of damaged cells in your body, you may consider eating extra sulfur as part for your daily diet.
If you are taking any medication, make sure to leave at least 30 minutes between taking your medication and taking sulfur. The chemicals would quickly deplete the sulfur and thus render it ineffective.
Note: The sulfur typically sold in the form of MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) supplements is usually ineffective. Most MSM products sold commercially contain less than 35 percent sulfur, and some MSM products contain no sulfur at all. This is largely due to the crushing of the methylsulfonylmethane crystals into powder and adding anti-cake agents.  Additives of packaging may also block or neutralize the bio availability of the sulfur contained in the MSM. I recommend that you only use organic sulfur in its crystal form and lignin (wood) based. (See Product Details.)
Possible cleansing reactions:
Because Sulfur is an effective cleanser it may initially lead to mild cleansing reactions such as intestinal gas. Do not become discouraged if it doesn’t make you feel good right away. It can easily take 3-4 weeks before the body’s cell membranes become unclogged and proper cell oxygenation kicks in. The less toxic the body is the faster the results will become apparent. In any case, the sulfur is equally effective for everyone because it is an essential food, not a medicine (although natural food acts like medicine).  Without sulfur, we could not live even for one minute.
If taking the sulfur at the recommend dosage makes you feel uncomfortable at first, use a smaller dosage and slowly work up to a teaspoon (5g) twice a day. Those with a severe degenerative disease may take as much as 1 tablespoon (15g) twice daily but should also start at no more than 1 teaspoon twice a day.
It can take up to 3-4 months for damaged or weak cells to reach the end of their natural cycle and for new, healthy, properly oxygenated cells to replace them. In addition, a lifetime of absorbing toxins buried under layers of fat and insulating mucopolysaccharides (mucous) cannot be undone over night.So be patient. It is far better to know something as pure and cleansing as sulfur is causing a little temporary discomfort than not to notice  the body slowly suffocating in a pool of toxins.
A Simple Taste Test:
When eaten straight, organic sulfur has a bitter taste to it, which is much more noticeable when the body is quite toxic. The less toxins there are in the body, the less bitter the sulfur tastes. So if it tastes very bitter to you, you can be certain you are quite deficient in it.
To make it easier on your taste buds, you can put the sulfur in your mouth and immediately swig a little lime or lemon juice and its flakes will melt in your mouth as you swallow. Then drink an 8-ounce (240ml) glass of non chlorinated, non fluoridated water (these chemicals will nullify the benefits of the ingested sulfur).  Alternately, dissolve it in a glass of warm water with some lime or lemon juice added, and perhaps a little raw honey.
Organic sulfur has no known toxicity. Even if you took too much of it, it would simply be excreted by the body.

Why Most MSM Supplements Do NOT Work

The Study’s initial research of organic sulfur had its participants go to the store to buy MSM (methylsulfonylmethane). But what we hoped to observe did not coincide with what the literature said about MSM. Except for gastrointestinal improvements, our initial group had little improvement. When we found an article about the 16 “deadly” additives found in MSM—the anti-caking additives, we realized why our early participants were not reporting any health improvements. These additives benefit only the packaging industry;  our health is apparently a lesser concern to them. Sulfur, with an atomic number of 16, is known to bond with almost every other mineral.  Sulfur has demonstrated its ability to detoxify heavy metals in conjunction with the transport of oxygen across the cell membrane, thus allowing regeneration.  Sulfur is also the key player as a precursor for the utilization of amino acids, the body’s building blocks.  Of all of the amino acids, some 70 percent are sulfur-based. This detoxification cannot happen with MSM that contains anti-caking ingredients, because these excipients block the bioavailability of sulfur to the cells. The same thing happens when organic sulfur is released into the ocean, or evaporates and falls with rain—that sulfur is bound up by the chemical fertilizers as sulfites and sulfates. It soon became clear that the Study had to find a pure, uncontaminated form of MSM. After a thorough search, we believe we have found it in the form of Organic Sulfur—coarse crystal flakes which are fresh from the precipitator and have had no further processing. This Organic Sulfur is supplied to the members of the Study, and we follow them with photographs of their faces in an effort to observe the cellular regeneration they experience. The photographic followup, the newest aspect of the Study, is too recent in its implementation to be able to share the results. However, the reports on health, diet, and medications have been very interesting.  As in the beginning of the Study, many of these participants had been taking MSM in tablet or capsule form for many years. Our efforts to find a pure form of MSM was worth the effort, as their responses have clearly indicated.

Degenerative Disease

 SULFUR – A Secret Weapon Against Every Kind of Degenerative Disease

All of us are undergoing an unprecedented level of toxic assault from radiation, GMO foods, toxic chemicals the FDA fraudulently allows to be put into food, personal care products and medication, and now more recently, chemtrails that poison our air, water and soil with toxic metals. How can we be free to experience optimal health in the face of this onslaught? As the first person in the world to call attention to the UN Codex international threat to health freedom, I’ve been on a personal quest to improve my health ever since orthomolecular medicine helped me finally escape the hell of the psychiatric system 35 years ago.

Although orthomolecular medicine, a suppressed nutritional treatment mode, addressed the nutritional deficiency that caused my biochemical imbalance, there were still several key missing pieces of my personal health jigsaw puzzle that I only now have fully discovered. The first was the discovery of the need to focus on the health of my gut. The second discovery was the essential role organic sulfur played in maintaining the health of my gut. And lastly, that there is really only one disease: cellular malfunction due to lack of oxygen on the cellular level.

INTRODUCING YOUR SECOND BRAIN: YOUR GUT

There’s a popular expression we’ve often used: “what does your GUT tell you?” Did you realize that you have a second brain? This was a revelation to me. Hippocrates, the father of Western medicine, intuitively understood this over 2000 years ago when he stated that “all illness stems from the gut.”

The reason there is no such thing as “mental” illness is because we can’t separate the brain from the rest of the body, especially not from our small intestines. Our brains are inextricably intertwined with every organ system in the body, especially with the neurons or nerve cells in our gut. Did you know that we have more neurons in our gut that in our brain? In fact 95% percent of the “feel good” neurotransmitter serotonin manufactured in our body is not made in the brain, it’s made in our small intestines, our gut!

A “healthy” person has approximately 4 pounds of beneficial probiotics comprised of beneficial bacteria, yeast and viruses that populate the gastrointestinal tract or gut. These non-human organisms are also called the “microbiome” and hopefully provide a symbiotic relationship with our enterocytes or gut cells that line the small intestines by helping digest fiber and other nutrients into our body.

It’s important to have more of the beneficial gut flora because they work symbiotically with our enterocytes to produce vitamins (like B1, B2, B3, B5, B6), K2, enzymes, neurotransmitters, antibiotics, and so on. In other words, ideally we have our very own biochemical factory that synthesizes the substances our bodies need to help keep our immune system intact and our moods balanced. Unfortunately, the foods we eat, the air we breathe, and the types of personal hygiene products and pharmaceutical medications we’ve taken also affects the health of our microbiome. Most often, there’s an imbalance that allows opportunistic flora to overwhelm the beneficial gut flora, thereby causing disease.

When we are born, our gastrointestinal tract is sterile, and is primarily populated with the flora from our mother as we pass through the birth canal. In essence, we “inherit” the health or imbalance of her gut flora. If she has gut dysbiosis, then the child will most likely be born with compromised immunity and may experience a range of symptoms from mild (allergies) to severe (learning disabilities like hyperactivity, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia).

OXYGEN AND CELLULAR HEALTH

The health of the cell is very important, especially our gastrointestinal (GI) cells called enterocytes. In a healthy person, the small intestine usually is neutral in pH, the stomach is very acidic (pH 2.5) and the large intestine is usually around pH 6.5.

When we’re under stress, we get a huge acid dump into our gut, causing our small intestines to go from neutral to acidic. In the past several years, there has been a disturbing phenomenon of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth or SIBO that colonize the small intestine. According to Nora T. Gedgaudas in Primal Body, Primal Mind, the large intestines and not the small ones, were meant to be colonized by bacteria. These rod-shaped bacterial colonies are associated with damaging the lining of the small intestine, and in high enough amounts, produce enough acids that are related to neurological and cognitive symptoms known as “leaky gut syndrome”. Those who suffer from celiac disease, autism, and schizophrenia often share this common symptom of “leaky gut syndrome”. What is surprising is that these rod-shaped bacteria never existed before in humans.

When cells exist in a low pH or acidic environment, their ability to transport oxygen into the cells and remove toxins becomes impaired. The lack of oxygen creates cellular malfunction, and the result is disease such as cancer.

Back in 1931, Dr. Otto Warburg, M.D., won the Nobel Prize for discovering the nature of cancer and “the mode of action of the respiratory enzyme”. Warburg said: “Cancer, above all other diseases, has countless secondary causes. But, even for cancer, there is only one prime cause. Summarized in a few words, the prime cause of cancer is the replacement of the respiration of oxygen in normal body cells by a fermentation of sugar.” In other words, cancer cells proliferate in an anaerobic environment where the mitochondria inside the cells produce energy without oxygen and one of the byproducts is a build-up of lactic acid. Research for the last 50 years has shown that tumor cells use lactic acid for food and makes tumor cells resistant to radiation and chemotherapy.

OXYGEN AND ORGANIC SULFUR

One of the best ways to oxygenate your cells, alkalize your blood and remove toxins that can lead to cellular malfunction is to take organic sulfur. Sulfur lets oxygen in by increasing the permeability of cell membranes, and takes out the trash! Sulfur, in the form of sulphates, plays an essential role in cellular detoxification and the normal metabolism of brain neurotransmitters.

Organic Sulfur forms 146 different chemical combinations. Sulfur will combine with all metals except gold and platinum to form inorganic sulfides. Inorganic sulfides convert these hazardous toxic metals into non-hazardous, stable forms which are safely ushered out of the body. By bonding with all the toxic heavy metals, organic sulfur can safely chelate and remove these toxic metals from our bodies!

Sulfur is the ANTIDOTE to the toxic chemtrails being sprayed on us, as well as to the increased levels of radiation stemming from the Fukoshima nuclear reactor disaster in Japan back in March 2011 which has been proven to have caused a huge rise in infant mortality in the USA and all over the world. According to the December 2011 edition of the International Journal of Health Services, 14,000 US deaths have been attributed to fallout from Fukoshima. SULFUR DEFICIENCY AND DISEASE

Sulfur is found abundantly in soils rich with volcanic basalt and used to be available in eggs, onions, garlic, raspberries, turnips, and cruciferous vegetables like cabbage, broccoli, kale, etc. Unfortunately, our food today is grown in soil that is deficient in trace minerals and sulfur that our bodies need to build our immunity and repair our bodies. Since the 1950s, commercial farmers have used petroleum-based fertilizers that deplete the sulfur found in our soils. The USDA was aware of the sulfur deficiency in the soils in the south eastern US, but little was done to address or reverse the deficiency.

Today, sulfur deficiency has been linked to major diseases like obesity, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, and chronic fatigue. One need only look at the Center for Disease Control’s (CDCs) own Diabetes Translation Division trend maps that show that obesity and diabetes comprise 26% and 9% respectively of the population in the South Eastern US from 1994 – 2008. For 2010, the trends show some states having obesity rates at 30% of their population.

Another reason for sulfur deficiency is due to the gut dysbiosis either from ingestion of prescription medication like birth control pills, antibiotics, antacids, and so on and the proliferation of sulphate-reducing microbes that make sulfur unavailable to the body, and metabolize sulfur into sulfites which are toxic to the body. In autistic children, severe deficiency of sulphate is found 95% of the time due to an overgrowth of these sulphate-reducing microbes.

Deficiency of Amino Acids Create Symptoms

Protein is essential for growth and maintenance of our bodies.   Proteins are broken down into amino acids.  There are non-essential amino acids that our bodies can produce, and essential amino acids that we must get from our diet.

Essential amino acids include:

  • Phenylalanine
  • Valine
  • Threonine
  • Tryptophan

Deficiencies in amino acids lead to specific symptoms:
